Michael MacMillan Sculptor

The studio and Gallery of Michael MacMillan Sculptor

The Gallery is the culmination of much hard work and planning over the last 7 years.
The project was born out of the synergistic collaboration between the talented Draughtsman, Allan Bartlett of Bartlett Design who created the Monaco Resort, and the ideas and vision of Michael MacMillan and Jackie Crow. Allan put our vision on paper and made it all work, he was so easy to work with.

It’s a Grand Design really… being sympathetic to the historic and refurbished Neudorf Hall was essential. We were also committed from the get go to create something equally as stunning; something that would sit well in it’s rural setting; something that would be here long after we are gone; but a building with a sense of purpose too.
Enter Tim Edwards of Edwards Ltd Country Buildings.

A local builder hailing from the UK with many talents, but with bricklaying being his real area of expertise. He shared our and Allans passion for this type of build with mortise and tenon joins, extensive use of untreated native timbers, Lawson Cyprus and Macrocarpa, and extensive brickwork.
Inside you’ll see polished aggregate floors, exposed timber sarking, rustic timber beams and lintels, and hand mixed straw/grit plaster on the walls made to look like some of those old French and English barns. Outside; red tile roof, copper guttering and superb craftsmanship in every detail, timber butted joins covered with copper by Michael, and the entire barn stained by the family.

“Now the project is complete we have lots to look forward to and a chance to briefly savour the amazing space we have created before people start arriving for the summer”
